By using Water Cert Prep you agree to these terms. They are written in plain language and describe what this site is, what it is not, and the limits of what you can rely on it for.

Educational content, not professional advice

Water Cert Prep is a study and reference resource for people preparing for a water or wastewater operator certification exam, across the four disciplines (water treatment, water distribution, wastewater treatment, and wastewater collection). It is provided for general educational purposes only and is not professional, legal, or public-health advice. Nothing here creates a professional relationship or guarantees any exam result. Most importantly, this site does not certify anyone: certification is granted by your state certifying authority, usually requires documented operating experience and sometimes approved training, and we are a study supplement to that process, never a replacement for it.

Accuracy and dated facts

We check every exam fact, fee, and requirement against a primary source (the state certifying authority, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, EPA, or the Association of Boards of Certification, ABC) and stamp each page with the date it was last reviewed. Certification rules, fees, class structures, and continuing-education requirements are set by each state and change on the state's own schedule, and a figure that was correct on its review date may be updated afterward. Always confirm current requirements with the official state source before you rely on them. Where a body does not publish a figure, we label it as reported rather than official.

Not affiliated with any body, agency, or credential

Water Cert Prep is an independent publisher. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or administered by the Association of Boards of Certification (ABC), the American Water Works Association (AWWA), the Water Environment Federation (WEF), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), or any state agency or health department. Names of exams, programs, and bodies appear only for accuracy and never imply a partnership.

Intellectual property

The text, study guides, practice questions, plant-math problems, explanations, per-state certification data, and graphics on this site are original works created by Water Cert Prep and Urban Algorithm LLC. Our practice questions and math problems are authored from scratch against public exam blueprints and the underlying public physics of plant operation (formulas such as the pounds formula and constants such as 8.34 pounds per gallon of water are facts and not copyrightable); the questions and explanations themselves are ours. Our per-state matrix is an original dated compilation of facts (fees, classes, experience minimums, continuing-education rules, reciprocity), each cited to its source, and layers on the public EPA baseline rather than republishing it. We do not reproduce the copyrighted prose of any study-manual franchise or of ABC's copyrighted criteria. You may read, link to, and share our pages for personal study. You may not copy, scrape, republish, or resell our content without written permission. Illustrations are original or AI-generated artwork; we use no licensed stock photography.
